About
This is my other blog, hence the eponymous name. I’m using it to tinker with publishing at WordPress.com and as some place to write while I build another website and blog on my vanity domain. That’s why it’s designated “other.”
On these pages I’ll write about all that tinkering as well as whatever else interests me at the moment. You’re invited to read along and comment. I don’t expect this blog or my tumblelog to go away even when my website is complete.
I live with my wife, son and dogs in the Republic of California. I prefer dogs over cats because I’m allergic to the latter.
After drawing some obscure underground comics as a teenager, I became a newspaper artist where I pioneered using the Macintosh for information graphics. Out of curiosity and need, I taught myself to write software. Since then I’ve been, at one time or another, a senior engineer or engineering manager of Director, Illustrator, Navigator, Nautilus and Safari.
I was a member of the team at Netscape which released Mozilla as open source. I also hired and led the Safari team at Apple where I chose KHTML and KJS as core technologies for the WebKit project.
I won’t discuss my current or past employers, their policies, plans or products here. So don’t ask. My opinions are my own and don’t represent anyone else.
